Axi Review

Axi is a long-running international broker with a solid platform. For Indian traders, the key fact is that service comes through an offshore entity with limited oversight. If you are comparing international brokers, Axi deserves consideration, but you need to understand exactly what regulatory protections do and do not apply.

What Axi Offers

Axi's core offering is MetaTrader 4, which remains the focus. MetaTrader 5 was added in 2024, plus a proprietary web platform and TradingView integration. The instrument list covers FX, indices, commodities, share CFDs, and crypto CFDs.

The account structure offers three tiers. The Standard account has no minimum deposit, no commission, and spreads from around 0.6 pips. The Pro account also has no minimum deposit but adds commission of roughly USD 3.50 per side in exchange for spreads from 0.0 pips. The Elite account requires USD 25,000 minimum and offers the same commission structure as Pro.

Deposits and withdrawals are fee-free, with no minimum deposit required to start.

The India Reality

Axi is not regulated in India and holds no SEBI licence. Indian clients are onboarded to AxiTrader LLC or AxiTrader Ltd, entities registered in St Vincent and the Grenadines under SVG FSA registration only. Consumer protections you might expect from top-tier regulators do not apply to your account.

Under RBI/FEMA rules, retail forex and CFD margin trading with offshore brokers is prohibited for Indian residents. Only INR-based currency pairs (USD/INR, EUR/INR, GBP/INR, JPY/INR) traded on SEBI-recognised exchanges are legal locally. The RBI Master Direction on Electronic Trading Platforms prohibits operating a forex ETP in India without RBI authorisation. Remitting funds abroad for margin forex trading is not a permitted purpose under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme.

Trading with Axi from India operates outside the local legal framework.

Regulatory Status and Alerts

Axi's group entities hold licences with ASIC, FCA, DFSA, and CySEC. The company was founded in Sydney in 2007.

The FCA has published a warning against an entity called Axi Trading, which it identifies as a clone of the legitimate firm. ASIC has also issued a clone-firm alert. These alerts warn that unauthorised firms use the name to appear legitimate. Axi itself is not currently on the RBI's Alert List of unauthorised forex trading platforms, which as of 19 November 2025 totals 95 entities. However, the RBI states this list is not exhaustive. Absence from the list is not the same as authorisation.

CAUTION
Axi is a real, long-running broker, but the entity serving India is offshore with limited regulation. Clone alerts show that established names attract impersonators. Verify any entity you deal with directly through official regulator registers at SEBI (https://www.sebi.gov.in) and RBI (https://www.rbi.org.in).

Costs and Fees

On the Standard account, spreads from 0.6 pips are competitive for a no-commission model. The Pro account shifts the cost structure for active traders. With zero spreads and USD 3.50 per side commission, a round turn costs USD 7 per lot. On a standard lot of XAG/USD, total cost is roughly 0.7 pips. For scalpers and day traders, this is competitive with international brokers in this tier.

Funding Your Account

Axi does not offer INR-denominated accounts. Base currencies are USD, AUD, EUR, or GBP. No verified INR local payment rails like UPI or IMPS are available. Funding options are cards, bank wire, Skrill, Neteller, or crypto deposits via USDT, BTC, and ETH.

Using a credit card or bank wire for an offshore forex account means the bank sees the transaction. Since margin forex trading is not a permitted LRS end-use, you may face declined transactions or banking friction. Crypto deposits bypass the banking system but introduce volatility and verification requirements.

Local SEBI-recognised exchange trading settles in INR with domestic rails like UPI and NEFT. This is a real difference in daily convenience versus offshore CFD trading.

FYI
Exchange-traded currency futures in India are taxed as business income at your income-tax slab rate, with losses carrying forward up to 8 years. Offshore CFD trading operates outside that framework. You remain responsible for declaring worldwide income and foreign assets under Schedule FA. Crypto held offshore is taxed at a flat 30% plus 4% cess. Tax authority: Income Tax Department / CBDT (https://incometax.gov.in).

Regulatory reality and withdrawal risks

Your account sits under SVG FSA registration, which provides minimal consumer protection. If a dispute arises, your recourse is limited. The FCA and ASIC alerts about clones mean you must verify you are dealing with the real Axi and not an impersonator.

Withdrawals have been a friction point across the offshore broker industry. Axi advertises fee-free withdrawals, but processing speed varies due to banking intermediaries.

Axi offers a swap-free Islamic account and does not offer standard deposit bonuses. The absence of deposit bonuses is a positive sign; bonus-heavy brokers often use restrictive terms that lock capital.

Is It Right for You?

Axi is a legitimate, established international broker with competitive pricing and a solid MT4 platform.

For experienced traders who understand the regulatory trade-off of offshore entities, who have a clear strategy around costs, and who can manage their own compliance and tax reporting, Axi is workable. If you need zero-spread pricing and can handle funding friction, this broker fits the profile.

For newcomers who might confuse "available" with "regulated", anyone relying on local investor protection schemes, or traders needing INR rails for deposits and withdrawals, Axi carries risk. If an offshore entity with limited oversight makes you uncomfortable, look for brokers under FCA or CySEC with stronger client fund protections, even if leverage is lower.

Build a checklist: verify the entity through official registers, understand the fee structure, test withdrawals with a small amount before committing. Axi passes most of that checklist, with the clear caveat that the India-facing entity is offshore and outside local regulation.

Questions

Is Axi legal to use in India?

+

Axi is not regulated in India and holds no SEBI licence. Trading forex CFDs with this offshore entity is prohibited under RBI/FEMA rules, which permit residents to trade only INR-based currency pairs on SEBI-recognised exchanges.

Can I open an Axi account from India?

+

Yes, Axi accepts clients from India, onboarding them to the offshore SVG-registered entity. You can open an account with zero minimum deposit. Funding requires international methods like cards, bank wire, or crypto, as no INR payment rails are available.

Is Axi safe or a scam?

+

Axi is a genuine broker founded in Sydney in 2007, with group entities regulated by ASIC, FCA, DFSA, and CySEC. The entity serving India holds SVG FSA registration only. FCA and ASIC have issued clone alerts against firms using the Axi name illegally. Always verify the entity through official registers.

What leverage does Axi offer in India?

+

Indian clients receive up to 1:500 leverage on the offshore SVG entity. Exchange-traded INR currency derivatives in India offer roughly 20-30x leverage. Higher leverage amplifies both profits and losses, so position sizing is critical.

How do I fund or withdraw from Axi in India?

+

Funding options are credit/debit cards, bank wire, Skrill, Neteller, and crypto deposits in USDT, BTC, or ETH. No minimum deposit applies. Deposits and withdrawals are fee-free, but no INR accounts or local payment rails are available.
