Axi and TradingView: A Practical Look

Honest look at Axi's TradingView integration: what works, what to watch out for, and how it fits Indian traders navigating RBI/FEMA rules.

CFDs are not a savings product; the balance can fall quickly.

Axi and TradingView: A Practical Look

I have been trading with Axi on and off for a few years now, mostly on MT4. When they added TradingView integration, I was curious but skeptical. Another platform login often means another half-baked web terminal. But I have to say, for charting and quick analysis, it has become my go-to for checking the market on my phone between meetings. The direct question most Indian traders ask is whether it is any good and, more importantly, whether it is even accessible from here. Here is my honest take, including the regulatory reality that you cannot ignore.

Advanced charting tools on TradingView

Yes, Axi offers TradingView integration as part of its platform lineup alongside the core MT4, MT5 which arrived in 2024, and its own proprietary platform. This means you get the full TradingView charting suite, including advanced drawing tools, a vast library of community indicators, and smooth multi-chart layouts, all powered by your Axi account. It is not a separate account type; it is a way to interface with your existing trading account.

For me, the biggest win is the speed. I can pull up a USD/INR chart on TradingView, sketch out my levels, and place trades without juggling two different applications. The execution speed has been on par with what I experienced on MT4, which is what matters. The spreads I see are the same as my account's feed, which is something I always check. I have seen some brokers quote one spread on their platform and another on TradingView; Axi has been consistent in my experience.

India Reality Check

Here is where I need to pause and be direct with you. Axi is not regulated in India. There is no SEBI licence. As a resident, you would be onboarded to an offshore entity, specifically AxiTrader LLC or AxiTrader Ltd, registered in St Vincent and the Grenadines under SVG FSA registration.

This is a critical point, not a minor footnote. Under RBI/FEMA rules, retail forex and CFD margin trading with offshore brokers is not permitted for Indian residents. The only legal local avenue is trading INR-based currency pairs on SEBI-recognised exchanges like NSE and BSE. This also means the usual local convenience, like UPI deposits or an INR-denominated account, is not available. Your base currency would be USD, AUD, EUR, or GBP, with funding via cards, bank wire, e-wallets (Skrill, Neteller), or crypto (USDT, BTC, ETH). It is on you to understand these restrictions and the risk that the legal protection you might expect from a domestic broker does not apply here. The RBI keeps an Alert List of unauthorised platforms. While Axi as a brand is not on it as of the latest update, the regulatory stance against offshore forex is clear.

CAUTION
You cannot legally fund an offshore forex account via the RBI's Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS). Margin trading is not a permitted end-use under LRS rules.

What Works on TradingView

The integration is not just a charting gimmick; it is a functional gateway. The order ticket is embedded, so you do not get bounced to another page to confirm a trade. I found the risk management features useful-being able to set stop-loss and take-profit levels directly on the chart with a simple drag is far better than typing in numbers. For a quick scalping session on indices, the stability has been impressive, no freezes or disconnects during fast moves, which has been my past complaint with some web terminals.

FeatureMy Experience
Charting ToolsFull suite, comparable to the standalone TradingView site
Order TicketEmbedded, with SL/TP drag-and-drop functionality
Account LinkingWorks with existing Axi Standard, Pro, and Elite accounts
Execution SpeedOn par with MT4, no noticeable added latency
Mobile UseExcellent, fully featured on a mobile browser

Pricing and fees on TradingView

When you trade via TradingView, you are not paying extra platform fees. The costs are the same as your Axi account type.

  • Standard Account: Spreads from ~0.6 pips, no commission.
  • Pro Account: Raw spreads from 0.0 pips, plus commission around USD 3.50 per side per lot.
  • Elite Account: Minimum deposit of USD 25,000, with commission at USD 3.50 per lot.

There is no minimum deposit to start on Standard or Pro, which is a low barrier to test the waters. I have traded on the Pro account for the tighter spreads, and the commission is transparent and predictable. If you are a lower-volume trader, the Standard account might be simpler. Just remember, this is all denominated in USD, so you carry FX conversion risk on your deposits and withdrawals.

The Leverage Question

Leverage can make or break a trading account, and this is a major difference between Axi's offering and what is legal locally. The offshore entity serving Indian clients offers leverage up to 1:500.

To put that in perspective, if you trade a standard lot of NZD/USD, that is a notional value of USD 100,000. At 1:500, your margin requirement is just USD 200. A single adverse move of 0.2% wipes out that margin entirely. Always factor that in. Compare that to the SEBI-regulated exchange-traded currency derivatives, which are margin-based at roughly 3-5%, giving you approximately 20-30x leverage. Trading offshore at 500x is a completely different league of risk and is not something to be taken lightly.

FYI
More leverage means a smaller adverse price move can liquidate your position. A 0.2% move against you at 1:500 leverage means a 100% loss of margin on that trade.

Software More Than Charts

Many traders, myself included, rely on automated trading or Expert Advisors (EAs) to run a strategy. TradingView is excellent for manual analysis, but it does not replace the automation powerhouse that is MetaTrader.

If your strategy requires EAs, you will want to stick with MT4 or MT5. For live algorithmic execution of custom scripts, the native Axi MT4/MT5 platform remains the core focus and the most reliable option. For me, the workflow is now hybrid: I use TradingView for charting and identifying zones, then execute my algorithmic trades via MT4. The integration is a great tool for the human side of trading, but it is not the engine room.

Account Configurations

Picking the right account type for TradingView is straightforward, but the numbers matter depending on how you trade.

Account TypeMin DepositCommissionBest For
StandardUSD 0NoneNew traders, manual chart analysis
ProUSD 0~USD 3.50/sideScalpers, high-volume manual traders
EliteUSD 25,000USD 3.50/lotHigh-net-worth traders seeking raw spreads

Your choice also affects your swap rates. Axi does offer Islamic or swap-free accounts, which can be requested to comply with Sharia law, a feature that is relevant for some traders in India. But it is not a standard default, so you would need to request it through support.

International transfer costs and fees

Let us be realistic. The main inconvenience is money movement. Since there are no verified INR local rails, you rely on international cards or bank wires. The broker does not charge deposit or withdrawal fees, but your bank will likely apply charges for the international transfer, and you may be exposed to poor FX conversion rates set by your card issuer.

Then there is the tax side. Any profit you make is subject to Indian income tax. You have to declare your worldwide income and foreign assets in Schedule FA. Crypto CFD profits are taxed at a flat 30% plus cess. For currency futures on Indian exchanges, the tax treatment differs, but for offshore CFD trading, you need to be meticulous in tracking every trade for your tax return. It is not a deal-breaker, but the maths of your net profit should include the cost of tax compliance.

Charting experience that delivers

Axi's TradingView integration is, in my view, a well-executed tool for real traders. It delivers on its promise, with reliable execution and deep charting, all without inflating spreads. It is the charting experience I wish I had years ago.

Comfortable for: A seasoned Indian trader who has done their own due diligence, fully understands the RBI/FEMA restrictions on offshore forex, and is prepared to manage the administrative burden of international fund transfers and self-declaration of foreign income for tax purposes. They value charting quality and are comfortable executing manually, often working with a Pro account for the tighter raw spreads.

Risky for: A new trader who is just starting out and expects the same protections as a SEBI-regulated broker. If you are not prepared to navigate the legal restrictions around offshore forex trading, or if you rely on INR-based payments and local support, this setup will add friction and risk. It is better to look at a broker with a stricter regulatory framework and clearer local presence that aligns with your needs.

Questions

Can I use the TradingView integration on my mobile phone?

+

Yes, the web platform is fully responsive and works well in a mobile browser. I use it on both my phone and tablet. The charting tools and order ticket function smoothly on the smaller screen, though for heavy chart analysis you will want a larger display.

Does the TradingView integration support all of Axi's instruments?

+

Yes. You can trade FX, indices, commodities, shares, and crypto CFDs through the integrated platform. The instrument list mirrors what is available on MT4 and MT5, so you are not losing access to any markets by choosing TradingView as your interface.

Is there a separate fee for using Axi's TradingView platform?

+

No, there is no extra platform fee. You pay the same spreads and commissions as dictated by your account type-Standard, Pro, or Elite. The integration is a free way to interact with your trading account using TradingView's superior charting suite.

How do I switch from MT4 to TradingView once I have an account?

+

You do not need to switch your account; the same login credentials work across all platforms. You can simply log in to the TradingView integration on Axi's website, and your balance, open positions, and history are all synced with your MT4 account. You can use both interchangeably in the same day.

Are my drawdown and risk metrics the same on TradingView as on the desktop app?

+

Yes, the data is identical. The TradingView integration pulls account-specific information directly from the server. This means your equity, margin level, and open position P/L are always in sync, regardless of whether you are looking at the web terminal or the desktop MT4 application.
