How We Review Axi: Our Process, Step by Step

Our review process explains how we verify Axi's regulation, fund protection, fees and trader rights before publishing any verdict.

CFDs are not a savings product; the balance can fall quickly.

What Our Review Process Covers

We answer one question before anything else: can an Indian trader verify what Axi claims about itself? Everything below comes from that.

AxiTrader was founded in 2007 in Sydney, and the group holds entities under ASIC, FCA, DFSA, CySEC and SVG registration. We do not take any of that on faith. We open the documents, check the registries and compare what is written in the marketing copy against what the licence actually permits. Where a claim cannot be verified at the time of review, we say so in the text rather than filling the gap.

The process is the same for every broker we cover.

The Five Checks We Run

Every review moves through the same five stages. A broker that fails at stage two does not get carried forward on the strength of a nice platform.

StageWhat we verifyPass condition
1. Entity mappingWhich legal entity serves Indian clientsNamed entity, not a brand name
2. Licence checkRegulator, licence scope, client protectionRegistry match, no clones
3. Cost transparencySpreads, commissions, swap, deposit feesAll-in cost calculable
4. Execution claimsPlatforms, order types, slippage handlingTestable, not just stated
5. Local realityRules, taxes, payments, supportHonest India-specific picture

Stage two is where most offshore brokers quietly lose points. A group licence in Australia or the UK does not automatically apply to the entity that accepts your deposit from India, and the difference matters more than any spread comparison.

FYI
Axi serves Indian clients through its offshore entity, AxiTrader LLC / AxiTrader Ltd, under SVG FSA registration. That is a real registration, and it is also not the same thing as being regulated here.

Where the Paperwork Gets Thin

For India, Axi has no SEBI licence. Retail forex and CFD margin trading with offshore brokers is not permitted under RBI/FEMA rules, and only INR-based pairs plus permitted cross-currency derivatives on SEBI-recognised exchanges (NSE, BSE, MSE) are legal locally.

When we review, we separate two things that marketing pages blend together: is the entity real, and is the activity permitted where you live. Axi the company exists. Its offshore registration is genuine. Its ability to onboard Indian residents into leveraged spot forex sits outside what Indian rules allow. Both statements are true and neither cancels the other.

The FCA has published a warning about a clone using the name "Axi Trading," and ASIC has flagged clone-firm activity around the brand. Clone warnings are common for any broker with a decade of history and they are not evidence against the real company. They are evidence that you should type the domain yourself rather than clicking a link from a Telegram group.

Costs, Accounts and What We Checked

Axi's account structure is straightforward, which makes it easy to audit. Standard has no minimum and no commission, Pro is also USD 0 minimum with raw spreads plus commission, and Elite starts at USD 25,000.

AccountMinimumSpread modelCommission
StandardUSD 0From ~0.6 pipNone
ProUSD 0From 0.0 pip~USD 3.50 per side
EliteUSD 25,000From 0.0 pipUSD 3.50 per lot

For the India review specifically, three more details went into the file. There is no INR account, so your balance sits in USD, AUD, EUR or GBP. There are no verified local INR rails, which means cards, bank wire, Skrill/Neteller and USDT/BTC/ETH. Minimum deposit is USD 0 and the broker does not charge deposit or withdrawal fees on its side, though the intermediary bank or wallet will.

On instruments, the coverage is FX, indices, commodities, shares and crypto CFDs. Platforms are MT4 as the core focus, MT5 since 2024, the Axi proprietary platform and TradingView. Swap-free accounts are available.

If your priority is a broker operating under a strict top-tier regime, that is a legitimate reason to compare elsewhere. FCA, CySEC and ASIC-regulated entities, segregated client funds, published commission schedules and a long track record are the criteria we would apply. Axi does hold group entities under some of these, but not for the India onboarding path.

The Catch on Costs and Withdrawals

Nothing here is hidden, but a few things deserve a slower read.

  • No INR base currency means every deposit and withdrawal carries a conversion cost, and that cost moves with the USD/INR rate.
  • Funding through USDT or BTC adds a second layer of settlement risk that has nothing to do with the broker.
  • A 20% TCS applies on LRS foreign remittances above Rs 10 lakh per financial year, and margin forex trading is not a permitted LRS end-use.
  • Round-turn cost on Pro only beats Standard at higher volume; at small size the commission eats the spread advantage.

The crossover between the two account types is real. A trader doing two or three mini lots a month is usually better off on Standard, not because Pro is expensive but because the fixed commission does not scale down with it.

TIP
Calculate your all-in cost per round turn before choosing an account, not after. Spread plus commission plus conversion is the number that matters, and it is not the number on the landing page.

Comfortable for

Traders who already understand that offshore leverage of up to 1:500 on the SVG entity carries real exposure and who manage position size accordingly. Also for anyone who values MT4 depth, a track record since 2007 and swap-free accounts, and who treats USD-denominated balances as normal rather than a problem to solve.

Risky for

Anyone who needs a broker where the local rules clearly permit the activity, and who would rather not spend time reconciling external remittance paperwork. If your priority is a regulated domestic channel with INR settlement or a top-tier international licence covering your account specifically, look at brokers where that is unambiguous and compare them on the same five criteria we use here.

Questions

How long does your Axi review take to complete?

+

Typically two to three weeks for a full pass. Entity mapping and licence verification take the longest because registry lookups and clone checks cannot be rushed. Cost and platform testing is faster since spreads and commissions are published.

Do you test Axi with real money before publishing?

+

We verify claims against broker documentation and regulatory registries rather than publishing P&L from funded accounts. Anything not confirmable at the time of review is marked as unverified in the text instead of being presented as fact.

Does a clone warning against Axi affect your rating?

+

No. The FCA warning concerns an entity using the name "Axi Trading," not the AxiTrader group. We record it because clone warnings are a real risk to readers, and we factor in whether the legitimate brand publishes clear domain and entity information, which Axi does.

How often is this review process page updated?

+

The method is reviewed when regulators change rules that affect Indian clients. The RBI Alert List stood at 95 entities as of its 19 November 2025 update, and RBI states the list is not exhaustive, so we re-check it rather than assuming the count is fixed.
